Dear Church Family,
I am Pastor Sophia. Before I ever understood what “tithing” or “offering” meant, I saw it lived out in the most ordinary, sacred place: my mother’s kitchen. I remember watching her scoop out a portion of uncooked rice before she made dinner. That first scoop—always— was set aside for the church and the poor even when we didn’t have much and even when times were hard. The bowl of the rice was her trust in God who provide our daily bread. It was her prayer. That simple bowl of rice shaped my understanding of generosity—not as something that comes from abundance, but as something that comes from Subscribe Past Issues Translate Subscribe faith. Past Issues Translate This Sunday till our Stewardship Sunday on June 1st, I want to talk with you about generosity in the real, daily practice of trusting God with what we have. Why is it? Because generosity isn’t about wealth. It’s about how we live with what we’ve been given. It’s about what kind of people we’re becoming in our earthly life. We live in a culture that tells us we don’t have enough. We need more to be secure, more to be happy, more to be in control. But Jesus tells us something different. He says, “You cannot serve both God and money.” (Matthew 6:24) The Bible teaches us that a tithe is a way of remembering WHO we truly depend on. It trains our hearts to trust in God. It connects us to God’s mission in the world. It reminds us that everything we have is a gift. This Sunday, we’ll explore the deeper purpose behind tithing—not as a financial transaction, but as a spiritual invitation. We’ll look at how God designed our generosity to build worship, community, and justice. I believe God is calling us into a season of open hands and open hearts. Not because God needs our money—He owns the cattle on a thousand hills—but because He wants our trust. He wants our joy. So, as we prepare for worship, I invite you to pray about what you might offer—not out of pressure, but out of love. Maybe it’s time, maybe it’s encouragement, maybe it’s resources. Whatever it is, I believe God will multiply it. Let’s live with generous hearts.
Let’s trust in God together. Amen.
