We offer a couple different ways to worship with us each Sunday morning at PVUMC.
Our Casual Worship service is at 9:00 AM. It’s an opportunity to worship God in a laid back setting. You can expect acoustic music with guitars and a cajon by our Praise Band, and we project the song lyrics on slides. We follow a relatively traditional order with a message and prayers, just in a casual setting.
The 10:00 hour is when we have our “Sunday School” classes. Kids, Youth, and Adults all have opportunities to study scripture and talk about how it relates to our lives today by being part of these classes that meet throughout the building.
Our 11:00 AM service is our Traditional Worship service, meaning it looks like what you might remember from past visits to United Methodist churches growing up . You can expect to see the pastors in robes, to sing hymns out of our hymnals, and to follow along with prayers in a bulletin that we’ll hand out.
We also want you to know a few things that we do during worship on a regular basis:
What to Expect at Worship
At both of our Sunday morning services we share a time of communal prayer and collect an offering. We consider these different ways to live into the community that God has called us to be here at Pleasant Valley. The communal prayer is a chance for us to support one another in prayer and lift up the people that are on our hearts and minds each week. The offering is a chance for us to give financially to support God’s work in our community through the ministries of our church.
If you stop by on the first Sunday of the month, you’ll also find that we celebrate communion. If communion is something new to you, just know it’s part of our tradition and it’s an outward sign of how we celebrate the grace of God that is in each one of us. It also gives us an additional opportunity to demonstrate that we believe we are a community at PVUMC that are called to support one another and to support our community.
