Renovations Updates
Pleasant Valley UMC is undergoing renovations to enhance our building and grounds as a place to worship, serve and belong. The original chapel was built in 1894 with additions of office/classrooms in 1945 and sanctuary/fellowship hall in 1991. Phase 1 and 2 renovations are completed including a much improved parking lot, new AC (heat pump capability can be added) and carpet in the Chapel , a new entry door for the Chapel, upgraded exterior lighting, and repairs to exterior windows and siding.
April 5, 2022 Update: Renovations of the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall have been completed. Construction of the access ramps to the Sanctuary and Chapel is underway.
March 13, 2022 Update: New cabinets and countertops are being installed in the Kitchen with original sinks and fixtures to follow. Fixtures are also being installed in the new ADA bathrooms. The main holdup now is the arrival of new ceiling light fixtures for the Fellowship Hall. The new ceiling tiles are installed except around the fixture areas. The new fixtures must be installed and inspected before the ceiling can be finished.
March 7, 2022 Update: Work is progressing well. The new ADA access ramps to the Sanctuary and Chapel will be installed very soon. New flooring has been installed in the Fellowship Hall, Kitchen and new Nursery.



March 1, 2022 Update: Work on the Fellowship Hall is moving right along. Painting is nearing completion, the new nursery is taking shape with two new windows added, new ceiling tile have been installed in most areas, the new ADA compliant bathrooms are in the fixture installation stage, and new cabinets and countertops are being installed in the kitchen. New luxury vinyl tile flooring will be put down soon. The new ADA access ramps to the Church and original Chapel will be installed shortly. Supply chain problems and the effects on inspections continue.




February 16, 2022 Update: Work on the Sanctuary is essentially complete. Work on the Fellowship Hall is progressing well.
February 7, 2022 Update: Work on the Sanctuary will be completed this week. Construction began on the Fellowship Hall today.
January 19, 2022 Update: The contractor is working towards completion of the Sanctuary by the end of January. The start date for the Fellowship Hall has moved up to from March 1 to February 7.
January 16, 2022 Update: Work on the Sanctuary began Monday January 10, 2022. At the end of the week, drywall crack repairs were nearly complete, most of the molding to cover AV wiring was installed, and the new AV booth was framed and drywalled. On January 14, the contractor put the Sanctuary back in working order for weekend services.
Earlier Updates: Loudoun County has approved plans and issued the building permit for Phase 3 Renovations of the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall. Renovations include improvements to the Sanctuary (new AV location, ceiling repairs/painting, carpet repair/cleaning) and for the Fellowship Hall new bathrooms, kitchen enhancements, new flooring, ceiling, lighting and a new upgraded nursery. HLR Architects and Chamberlain Construction Company (General Contractor) and the Board of Trustees have signed an updated “Repairs Scope of Work” for undertaking and completing these renovations.
