Dear Church Family,

I am pastor Sophia. I heard a funny story from my friend.

The host welcomed him warmly and kept bringing out food after food after food. The guest finally said, “Oh, you really didn’t need to prepare all this!”

The host smiled and replied, “I know… but I already cooked it, so now you need to help me.”

Then came dessert with coffee.

The leftovers were packed into containers. They were enough food to survive a small natural disaster.

But underneath the humor was something beautiful:
the host wanted the guest to feel fully welcomed, fully cared for, and fully loved.

Hospitality has a powerful way of touching people’s hearts.

The smallest acts of welcome can become moments of healing, encouragement, and grace.

I believe that God loves our RADICAL hospitality. God keeps inviting all people into grace, hope, healing, and new life. Even when people feel distant, uncertain, exhausted, or unworthy, God does not easily give up on them.

God’s radical hospitality has been revealed clearly in Acts 8:26-40. God leads Philip to meet an Ethiopian Eunuch searching deeply for God’s grace. It is a reminder that God often works through ordinary conversations and unexpected encounters.

Sometimes we may not realize how much a small invitation matters– a phone call, a warm meal, and a simple word, “I was thinking of you.”

These small acts can become channels of God’s grace.

As your pastor, I want to thank you for the ways you already show love to one another. I see people praying for each other, checking on neighbors, preparing food, encouraging one another, and quietly serving behind the scenes. These things matter more than you know.

This week, I encourage you to pray about one person you can invite—not only to church, but into deeper companionship and care. There are many people around us carrying loneliness, fear, stress, grief, or uncertainty. Sometimes they smile on the outside while struggling quietly on the inside.

And certainly, through your kindness, they experience the love of Christ.

I look forward to worshiping together this Sunday as God invites all of us and helps us to become people of invitation, compassion, and grace.

Until then, may the peace of Christ guard your hearts, strengthen your spirits, and remind you that you are never walking alone. Amen
