Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. (Matthew 7:25)
My church family
I am Pastor Sophia. I’ve been thinking about how life is often built in ordinary ways—through small choices, daily routines, and the things we give our time and attention to.
In Gospel of Matthew 7:24–27, Jesus speaks about building a house—one on rock, one on sand. It’s a simple picture, but it invites a deeper question: What are we leaning on when life gets unsteady? Day by day, we’re all building something.
Both builders spent energy to build their houses. One of them took his time. He dug deep, even when it was tiring and slow. The other finished quickly, choosing what was easier and faster. For a while, both homes looked just fine. You couldn’t tell the difference. But one day, a strong storm came. Wind, rain, and rising water tested both houses. One house was still standing, while the other had collapsed.

The difference wasn’t how they looked from the outside. It was the choice they made at the beginning. In many ways, life is like that. We make small choices every day—what we trust, what we follow, what we hold onto. Over time, those choices become our foundation. When life feels uncertain, it gently reveals what we’ve been building on all along.
Matthew 27:20–23 shows us that a crowd is faced with a choice. In a moment of pressure and noise, they follow the easier voice instead of the truer one. It’s a quiet reminder of how easily we can be pulled along by what’s around us, rather than grounded in what gives life.
This Sunday will be a gentle space for us to encourage each other to build our life on the strongest foundation, Jesus Christ.
We also have several meaningful opportunities to gather in the coming days, and I would truly love to see you there:
