I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing” (Genesis 12:2)
Dear Church Family,
I am Pastor Sophia. I hope you’re staying warm and well this week. As I sit here with my cup of coffee (and maybe a cookie or two!), I’ve been thinking about how God’s blessings often begin with a single step of faith.
You know, when parents choose a name for their baby, they spend so much time searching for just the right one — something meaningful, something that carries hope. I recently met a couple who named their daughter “Joy.” And oh, did she live up to that name! She grew into someone whose smile could light up a whole room. It made me think about how names shape who we become.
Genesis 12 talked about a man whose name carried the very breath of God’s blessing: Abraham. God called him to leave behind everything familiar — his home, his country, his comfort — and step into something completely unknown. He was seventy-five years old when God said, “Go… and I will bless you.”
What courage that must have taken! But what’s even more beautiful is what God said next:
“I will bless you… and you will be a blessing.”
That’s the heart of God — blessing us not to keep it all to ourselves, but to let it overflow to others. Every gift, every opportunity, every answered prayer — it’s all meant to ripple outward, touching lives beyond our own.
Sometimes, God’s blessings are waiting right outside our comfort zone. It may look like saying “yes” to something new trusting God when we can’t see the whole map ahead. Of course, it is not easy. So, like Abraham, faith often means stepping out before we have all the details.
I truly believe our church is full of “Abrahams” — people with faith, courage, and hearts ready to bless. So come this Sunday with an open heart. Let’s explore together what it means to step into God’s blessing and to become a blessing wherever we go. Come ready to be encouraged, challenged, and reminded that God’s promises are still alive and unfolding in us today.
I’m very much looking forward to seeing you, sharing smiles, and worshiping together. Don’t forget your coffee before church — we’ll have spiritual caffeine waiting for you! ☕
