He said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” Matthew 9:37
Dear Beloved Church Family,
I am pastor Sophia. Have you ever met someone who’s always preparing for the end of the world? You know the type of person—stocking up on canned beans, batteries, and bottled water “just in case.” I once heard someone say, “I’ve prepared for the end of the world at least three times already—and every time I had to eat all the beans myself!”
That story always makes me laugh, but it also makes me think. Because, in a way, even though we don’t know when it will happen, Jesus did tell us that the world will one day come to an end. My intention is Not to make us afraid, but to help us prepare for the day with urgency and compassion. He said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” (Matthew 9:37)
These words aren’t just about wheat or barley fields—they’re about people. They’re about the deep, aching hunger in the human heart for healing, forgiveness, and hope. When Jesus looked at the crowds, He didn’t see statistics or problems—He saw souls, each one precious, each one worth His compassion. God wants us to be a part of making God’s healing, forgiveness, love, and hope real.
This Sunday, we’ll explore what it means to say “Yes” to God—not just with our lips, but with our lives until Jesus’ final victory day. Jesus told the story of two sons—one who said “Yes” and didn’t act, and one who said “No” but changed his heart and went to work. (Matthew 21:28–31)
It’s a story that reminds us that God values not just our words, but our willingness to follow through with love and action.
As we prepare our hearts for worship, I invite you to pray with me:
“Lord, help me to say ‘Yes’—not only with my mouth, but with my heart, my hands, and my life.”
Let’s be a church that says Yes to God’s calling—by showing compassion, by serving one another, and by sharing the hope of Christ in our community. The harvest is still plentiful. The world still needs healing. And God is still calling workers—like you and me—to join Him. It is the time to say “Yes” now.
With love and joy in Christ,
Sophia (Seung Hae) Yoo-Hess
