You are always welcome at Pleasant Valley UMC, though you may have several questions before you come to a worship service. We hope you find the answer you seek below.

When does church start?

8:45 or 11:00 each Sunday. Arrive 5 minutes early to guarantee a convenient parking space.

What should I wear?

Whatever you are comfortable in, really. You will meet men in jeans and khakis, women in skirts and dresses, teenagers in basketball shorts and t-shirts. And you will meet families in coats and ties and traditional "Sunday" dress.

What about Sunday School?

We offer classes for children and adults. Children ages 3 through high school meet in age-level classes from 10:00 to 10:45. Children 4 and under are provided nursery service by our professional childcare staff. Adults meet in three separate classes, two of which are general interest and one focused toward young adults and couples (generally ages 25-40). These classes also meet from 10:00 to 10:45. The timing allows you to attend Sunday School and either worship service. Newcomers are always welcome!

What do you believe?

As a United Methodist Church we are a member church of a community of over 3 million worshippers. We believe in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through our words, thoughts and actions. We affirm the creating act of God who is master of all creation and who continually reveals God's saving power in the midst of human history. We believe in Christ as a divine revelation of God's presence among us, as an individual and corporate savior and Lord. We believe the final revelation of God's kingdom will be the redemption of all mankind and that with God's help we can each work towards our appointed tasks of sharing the love of Christ with our sisters and brothers throughout the world.

How do I join the church?

Church membership is offered in different ways depending on your background. If you are currently a member of another congregation you may come into membership of Pleasant Valley by transfer. If you are not a member of another church you may come in through profession of faith. After meeting with the pastor, you will be brought before the congregation and asked to answer questions affirming your beliefs. You may at that time be baptized if you have not been before. Please speak with the pastor for more information. Be assured that membership is not expected of any individual who does not yet feel the time is right.
