Join a Mission Trip to help victims of Hurricane Katrina!

Can you spare a few days of your time to help people move back into their homes?

Pleasant Valley UMC is sponsoring a missions trip to Gulfport, MS. We have sent three teams to the Gulf Coast to help restore homes after Hurricane Katrina. Now we are sending another team to help with reconstruction of homes. Methodist volunteers have rebuilt more than 2,000 homes, but there are several thousand yet to be restored. They will need help for at least another five years.

Volunteers are needed to join the team. We leave on May 18 and return on May 23 or 24. Contact Bill Walden or another member of the Missions Committee if you are interested in being a part of this team that will be providing help to the victims of Katrina!

Softball Season is Coming Soon!!!

Before we can field a team, we need someone willing to volunteer to manage the team. This basically involves signing people up on the roster, collecting a fee from each player to cover the costs, and making sure we have at least 10 people available for each game. (I can fill you in to get you started and answer any questions.)

We must register the team NLT than March 7th, but preferably before that, as team slots do fill up. All games are on Monday evenings, two games per night with a one hour time limit each, starting at either 6:30 or 8:30 PM, with the exception of rainouts, which will most likely be made up on weekends.
The season starts April 7th, and runs into early July (9 weeks plus make-ups followed by two weeks of playoffs). Most games are at Potomac Lakes Sports Complex outside the gate to Algonkian Park, with a few played elsewhere in Ashburn.

We are still looking for some players for full time play and also part time substitutes when others are out of town. But most importantly, we need a manager before we can move forward.

If you are interested in either playing or especially managing the team, please see Vince Jones or call 703-378-0324 and leave a message if not there.
